PDG de Palantir, aujourd’hui l’une des entreprises les plus valorisées du monde et un rouage essentiel de l’appareil d’État américain — particulièrement depuis la réélection de Donald Trump — Karp est une singularité dans la Silicon Valley. Là où ce milieu est dominé par des ingénieurs et des commerçants, lui vient de la philosophie et revendique une vision idéologique. Je conseille aussi son essai, The Technological Republic, où il explique que la génération tech des années 2000-2010 s’est perdue dans le consumérisme et doit désormais renouer avec une mission quasi messianique : défendre le peuple américain et la liberté occidentale face aux régimes autoritaires, au premier rang desquels la Chine. Le paradoxe, bien sûr, est que les technologies de Palantir servent massivement à restreindre les libertés, que ce soit dans l’armée israélienne ou dans les services de sécurité américains — mais Karp n’en est pas à une contradiction près. Je recommande ces lectures parce qu’elles éclairent un personnage décisif pour comprendre le monde technologique et géopolitique qui se recompose sous nos yeux.
